Twenty-one members of the Mexico YMCA Mid-Mo Marlins Swim Team participated in the Jefferson City, Missouri Pentathlon Meet on January 7, 2017, with thirteen of them bringing home trophies and/or medals.

The pentathlon consists of swimmers swimming all four strokes (butterfly, freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke) and swimming an individual medley, which includes all four strokes in the event. The composite times determine the final order of finish.

Julia Goerne (5), received the first place trophy for overall winner in the 6 & under age group. She also received first place medals in the 100 individual medley, the 25 butterfly, and the 25 backstroke; and a third place medal in the 25 freestyle.

Trey Burle (7), received the sixth place medal for overall winner in the 8 & under age group. He also received sixth place ribbons in the 100 individual medley, and the 25 freestyle; seventh place ribbons in the 25 breaststroke and the 25 butterfly. He also received a second place ribbon in the 10 and under 200 medley relay.

Ethan Freyer (8), received the fifth place medal for overall winner in the 8 & under age group. He also received fifth place ribbons in the 25 backstroke, the 25 freestyle, and the 100 individual medley; a sixth place ribbon in the 25 breaststroke; and an eighth place ribbon in the 25 butterfly. He also received a second place ribbon in the 10 and under 200 medley relay.

Brixton Goerne (9), received the second place trophy for overall winner the 9-10 age group. He also received a first place medal in the 50 butterfly; second place medals in the 100 individual medley and the 50 freestyle; and a fourth place ribbon in the 50 breaststroke. He also received a second place ribbon in the 10 and under 200 medley relay.

Avin Hernandez (10), received the eighth place medal for overall winner in the 9-10 age group. He also received a seventh place ribbon in the 50 backstroke; and a second place ribbon in the 10 and under 200 medley relay.

Katie Gooch (11), received the sixth place medal for overall winner in the 11-12 age group. She also received a fifth place ribbon in the 50 breaststroke; a seventh place ribbon in the 200 individual medley; and an eighth place ribbon in the 50 butterfly.

Riley Thurman (12), received the third place trophy for overall winner in the 11-12 age group. She also received second place medals in the 50 freestyle, the 50 backstroke, and the 50 breaststroke; and third place medals in the 200 individual medley and the 50 butterfy. She also received a second place ribbon in the 14 and under 200 medley relay.

Drew Hibbs (13), received the third place trophy for overall winner in the 13-14 age group. He also received a first place medal in the 100 breaststroke; a second place medal in the 200 individual medley; fourth place ribbons in the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke; and a sixth place ribbon in the 100 butterfly. He also received a first place ribbon in the 21 and under 200 medley relay.

Matthew Huemann(14), received the second place trophy for overall winner in the (13-14) age group. He also received a second place medal in the 100 backstroke; third place medals in the in the 100 butterfly, the 100 freestyle, and the 200 individual medley. He also received a fourth place ribbon in the 100 breaststroke; and a first place ribbon in the 21 and under 200 medley relay.

Ruthie Duncan (14), received the seventh place medal for overall winner in the 13-14 age group. She also received a sixth place ribbon in the 100 backstroke; and seventh place ribbons in the 100 butterfly, the 100 breaststroke, and the 100 freestyle.

Aidan Harley (15), received the seventh place medal for overall winner in the 15-21 age group. He also received eighth place ribbons in the 100 backstroke and the 200 individual medley.

Jake Bell (17), received the first place trophy for overall winner the 15-21 age group. He also received first place medals in the 100 breaststroke, the 100 butterfly, the 200 individual medley, the 100 freestyle, and the 100 backstroke. He also received a first place ribbon in the 21 & under 200 medley relay.

Austin Loyd (17), received the fourth place medal for overall winner in the (15-21) age group. He also received a second place medal in the 100 backstroke; a third place medal in the 100 breaststroke; fifth place ribbons in the 200 individual medley, and the 100 freestyle; and a sixth place ribbon in the 100 butterfly. He also received a first place ribbon in the 21 and under 200 medley relay.

Rachel Mertens (13), received a second place ribbon in the 14 and under 200 medley relay.

Aaliyah Jeramillo (14), received a second place ribbon in the 14 and under 200 medley relay.

Cecilia Fugaro (14), received a second place ribbon in the 14 and under 200 medley relay.

Claire Jones, Krista Burle, Abbigale Cloven, Antonio Fugaro, and Victoria Fugaro participated in the event.
