Marlins Win Small Teams Trophy at 2019 Heartland Area YMCA West Regional Championships

Congratulations Marlins!

Fifteen Mexico YMCA Mid-Mo Marlins swimmers participated in the 2019 Heartland West Regional Championships March 1 – 3, 2019 in Monett, Missouri. The Marlins won the 1st. place trophy in the Small Team Category, as well as the 1st. place High Points trophies for the 8 & Under girls and the 9-10 Boys.

Results for 8 & Under age group:

Chase Burle received a total of 97.5 points from eleven events and earned 1st. place in the 25-yard Butterfly and in the 100-yard Freestyle Relay. Julia Goerne won the 8 & Under Girls High-Point Trophy with 118 points for her 3rd. place finishes in the 25-yard Butterfly, 25-yard Breaststroke, 25-yard Freestyle, and 50-yard Freestyle; her 2nd. place finishes in the 100-yard Freestyle and 100-yard Individual Medley (IM); and her 1st. place finish in the 25-yard Backstroke. Gavin Kendrick received 46 points from nine events, with 1st. place finishes in the 25-yard Butterfly and in the 100-yard Freestyle Relay. Grant Kendrick received 108 points from eleven events, with 3rd. place finishes in the 25-yard Backstroke and 9-10 Boys 200-yard Freestyle Relay; 2nd. place finishes in the 25-yard Breaststroke and 100-yard IM; and 1st. place finishes in the 100-yard Freestyle Relay, the 100-yard Medley Relay, and the 9-10 Boys 200-yard Medley Relay. Kadyn Loyd received 35 points from nine events, including a 1st. place finish in the 100-yard Freestyle Relay.

Results for 9-10 age group:

Kenneth ‘Trey’ Burle won the 9-10 Boys High-Point Trophy with 133 points for his 3rd. place finishes in the 100-yard Breaststroke and 200-yard Freestyle Relay; his 2nd. place finish in the 50-yard Butterfly; and his 1st. place finishes in the 200-yard Freestyle, 50-yard Backstroke, 100-yard Backstroke, 100-yard Butterfly, 100-yard Individual Medley (IM), and the 200-yard Medley Relay. Ethan Freyer received 133 points from nine events, with a 3rd. place finish in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay and a 1st. place finish in the 200-yard Medley Relay.

Results for 11-12 age group:

Alexia Femrite swam well in six events. Brixton Goerne received 107 points in seven events, winning 3rd. place in the 50-yard Butterfly and 25-yard Freestyle, as well as 2nd. place in the 50-yard Backstroke. Kyra Loyd received 17 points swimming well in ten events in the Championship.

Results for 13-14 age group:

Krista Burle received 17 points swimming well in seven events and Victoria Fugaro received 56.5 points swimming well in eleven events in the Championship.

Results for 15-21 age group:

Antonio Fugaro received 104 points in seven events, winning 2nd. place in the 400-yard IM and 200-yard Breaststroke, as well as 1st. place in the 200-yard Butterfly. Cecilia Fugaro received 67 points in eleven events and won 1st. place in the 1650-yard Freestyle. Claire Jones received 78 points in eleven events and won 2nd. place in the 1650-yard Freestyle.

The team will now go on to the Heartland Area Conference Championships at Edwardsville, Illinois on March 15 -17, 2019.
